In fact, according to statistics from both the National Safety Council and the Centers for Disease Control, motor vehicle crashes rank among the top five ways to die in this country.

Speed limiters on trucks may decrease crash injuries and deaths

In an attempt to lessen the amount collisions on highways in Colorado and across the nation, the government is proposing a regulation on how fast tractor-trailers can travel. The plan would require certain tractor-trailers and buses weighing more than 26,000 pounds to carry an electronic speed-limiting device.

FMCSA upholds 30-minute break rule for truck drivers

Colorado residents may know that federal regulations strictly limit the amount of time that truck drivers can spend behind the wheel before resting. These hours of service rules are designed to reduce the number of accidents caused by fatigued truck drivers, but a nonprofit organization representing American truck and bus inspectors says that a regulation requiring drivers to take 30-minute breaks is being used by some to falsify logbooks and circumvent the rules.
